Hello Erik,

I do fully understand your point of view ("unknown user" forum posts).

I cannot speak for the other people, why they removed their account & re-registered. For me it was simply the reason, that I consider the ranking system not working any more.

Yes, the intention was to have a measurement for the own skill versus other players out there. However, as history has proven, due to people, who not follow the “skill” approach, it has become useless from my point of view.

Cheers

is there something you like ? most people deleted their account because of the site, yes. Many users won't play here anymore ,because alot of users created a challenge which are too hard for them. Also won't many come here because the onliest thing which is written in the forum are your stimulations.you want to have this you want to have this...
Maybe Erik and tbs have no pleasure more to do all.And if you don't like this site, what are you doing here ?:P
cheers,

I know some people are only here for the rankings, and that's up to them, if they want to trade solutions. But I would say the majority of people are here to learn new things and have some fun. I personally think that the ranking system is quite fun, seeing how you do compared to others. To be honest I don't quite get why people care what others do, and why they feel the need to leave. If the number of PM's are too many, asking for hints, then just ignore them. There are many other ways to communicate with your buddies outside of this site. Just my opinion!

Chaosdreamer that is the reason, why I did not left TBS. (well technically, I left TBS shortly - but came back later).

I still want to learn stuff (coding / cracking / ...) and I wanted to provide some more educational challenges. Yes, they might not suit all the players out there, which are new to coding or cracking, but others can learn some bits and pieces here and there - and that is what it is all about (like PE headers, not-inline-brute-forcing, brute force from inside JS, ...).

And Cyber, I'm not asking for changes on TBS (I provide "my point of view" - like other posts) I made a change to the way I'm playing on TBS. I decided for myself not to participate in the ranking - but I still contribute & solve challenges.

This might be abit of topic and different but i felt like replying here instead of opening a new topic.

I personaly like the rankings as they currently are. People know for themselves if they cheated to get a higher rank and why should we care, this is a game we play for ourselves, lets not get our fun spoiled bye others. Yet there are some things wich i think can bring this site to a higher level and bring back the fun some users.

First thing is. A new ranking based on points awarded by users ( yes this will be alot of work to create ). What i mean with this is the following. Users will get awarded with rankings by TBS / Erik ( or maybe some other "trusted / responsible people" ). There rankings can be in the form of a points system. The point of having this is to get a better idea of other people. People who solve a shitload of challenge's but never help anyone out and contribute absolutely nothing to the site can be rewarded with little points whyle someone who didnt solve 200+ challs but does his best to help others when he can and contributes to the site ( _decent_ levels, tutorials etc ) can be rewarded with good points. This will stimulate users to show what they know and encourage them bringing over their knowledge to newer people.

^^ that might be described abit weird, i always have problems making my point clear in another language.

Second thing is relook at the challenges. Even though im not high ranked and i didnt solve alot of levels i think some levels just dont make sense or are just not sueted. I mean how many crypto's / stegano's actualy make sense and can be considerd educational? I think looking at the wotings of a challenge can display this quite well. Sure keep also the easy levels, else it woudnt be fun for people like me who are less skilled but I dont think it would mind when there would be a reconsidering of some levels

some people like watching movie, while some people don't like, but who knows they like reading books.
People live by their own way.

well i just dont see where the problem with pm are since its a good way to learn stuffs, since thanks to that u can really explain what u did and ask for real things not nonesence hints, imean the other person can see what u did and maybe he has faced the same problem and he can driv u through the solution not by gving the answer but telling if ur are on the good way or not because i believe that those kind of challenge are made to learn. And thanks to the ranking u are able to ask directly to the right person.....
that's my point of view :D i just wanted to tell u to leave it as it is since it's a grat challenge :-)

Yes, pm's are really great to learn...but some people don't see it that way. They only see it as a way of obtaining a solution by trading for another solution. That's the problem. Pm's like: "I'll give you #### for ####" and stuff like that are the bad ones. Hints and suggestions are perfectly fine.
