Ok i have a 300GB Hard Drive and i have used over 250GB's worth and now when i try and open it, it will not open. I have tried chkdsk and it says that the master file table is corrupt. I searched google and found a program (GetDataBack for NTFS) with this i can view and save all my info....but there is no way > 250GB will be saved on a crappy 30GB internal HDD. So is there any way to repair the master file so i can use my external HDD again? |

hey sniperkid your problem is not easy to solve but you can ( i can but need your disk in my hands ) sorry for my english i try to explain how i will try to solve 1 when you use get databack it generate the correct table in memory so only can write in another disk but maybe you can see this data and write the correct in the disk. 2 have old commands fdisk /mbr (maybe it work) 3 norton diskeditor can make a virtual table (no have idea its work with 300gb) 4 have 1 program called "hdd regenerator" it can repair bad sectors in a disk (try it too) good luck |

Try MHDD - http://www.formatcenter.ru/soft/hdd/mhdd32ver4.2floppy.exe. The installation-file creates a boot floppy-disk with mhdd on it. MHDD can fix the master boot record, check for bad sectors (and try to fix them), test your hdd and alot more. |

did anybody say hirens bootcd? however, heres some advice, when a HDD starts being faulty give up. if only the table is corrupt scandisk should be able to fix it. using faulty hardware works for short whiles, the hours spent fixing it everytime are probably more expensive than a new HD. Not to mention the yelling family members tend to do when they loose there bookmarks for a second. |
