Does anybody know how to connect to AP via MAC adress, I have 3-4 Access Points with the same name, so when I connect to one of them it connect me to the AP with best signal, not to the AP wich I chose! Also there are some AP's with blank name and my D-Link progy do not recognize them! I saw those blank AP's with Cain&Abel and it's give me only MAC adress! I use D-Link Air Plus 120+ USB adatper! Thanks in advice! ____________ davs |

clearly you have no idea what you are talking about basicly accesspoints/networks don't have names they have *ssid if the accesspoints belong to the same network, there really is no reason why to prefer one over another if the accesspoints do belong to different networks, just select the right network, either with zeroconf service or an app specific for your wifi drivers [/me] doesn't tell you how you would force it on linux |

rhican said: "basicly accesspoints/networks don't have names they have *ssid" thanks on that information i do not know that before In our country ISP give us adsl+wireless router, so, by default all wireless router SSID set to:" Connection Point" also there is no wep or wpa security! And when i want connect to "another" SSID it's connect me to SSID with best signal not for that i choose! For example: First is SSID=Connection Point BSSID=00-01-e3-c8-1d-4d Signal= 49dBm ____________________________ Second is: SSID=Connection Point BSSID=00-01-e3-47-c0-21 Signal=56 dBm And when i want to connect to first one, i choose it, but it connect me to the second one, because there is better signal! So, I am interesting how to connect to AP which i want, is there some progy which i could use to connect over BSSID? __________ rhican, do u know what i talknig about, now? regards to all TBS users, especially to rhican |

well in linux you would issue a command like this and be done with it : iwconfig eth1 ap 00:1A:D4:2F:1A:28 there i said it #windows rhican how would you make windows connect to a specific accesspoint when there are two nearby with the same ssid? scratchme Two with the same SSID? scratchme Why in the world do you have 2 with the same SSID? * Penggu (i=me@dsl-202-173-182-147.vic.westnet.com.au) has joined ##windows rhican just humor me scratchme No idea, you aren't supposed to have 2. arooni what font do you guys use for your cmd app? scratchme The whole point of SSIDs is so you can differentiate between networks. rhican so what if they are the same network Penggu hi all. doing my 1st outlook 2003 form.. i'm trying to programmatically (scriptually) modify the 'readonly' property on a textbox, but i can't find any reference in the docs to it .. anyone know how to change it? rhican but different ap's scratchme If the two Access points are part of the same network, one should be a repeater, not regular access points. rhican and i want to connect to a specific one scratchme point. rhican humor me, :) scratchme I will, by refusing to talk about it anymore. so basically it will probably be possible (no reason why it shouldn't) but it's poorly documented and nobody knows about it. Lets just say paying for windows is definatly not worth it's buck the closest the channel got was "newsid" from sysinternals but if i'm not retarded that looks to be something entirely different. |
