bit of an odd question, but does anyone know how to do this? either over a network or locally? (winblows xp sp2)

Try writing a device driver that runs in ring 0 ;-)

Get a faulty RAM from Ebay and plug it in :) Worked all the times for me :P

lol. yes, as sure as i am that works (from earlier experience) i was wondering howone would replicate this with some form of software. i'm assuming it has something to do with illegal memory access, however it is unclear to me how i would achieve this. there is a linkbuilt-in way of doing this, but unfortunately i do not have admin privileges on said pc. much to my dismay.

Hahaha that works, or plug any faulty equipment in, fried video card, overclock the processor really high, basically any overclocking would work.
