hi to all, i just wanted to say something...
i read through all this topic and honestly i think everybody said something right...
bright-shadows.net is really the most nice site i saw in the web and i am almost here... i only have 65 challs and i am very happy about it ...::not absolutely because i have them, but because i understood how those 65 challs work!!!::...
i know very, but very few people (that i feel like friends) here 2 ranked more than me and 1 ranked less than me. all 3 are good people.
@Harlequin - yes there are many people that ask directly for solutions but there are also some who ask for hints. do not be too with everybody that is ranked less than you. prehaps they are not soooo pushy fellows as you could mean...

just a thing for everybody: in the forums, people that KNOW things can easily help with a little post ;-)
i love this site especially because i learn and i met few but very nice people.....

@Harlequin: Enjoy in solving challs yourself, but I am sure you didn't solve even 1 w/o help others. Am I right?

I too am one of those that asks for help. I don't think I've bugged Harl but I sure as hell have bugged Rayden5. He was always very polite and helped me a lot on a (actually a few :$) challenge that I didn't have a clue how to solve. He never gave me the answer and made me work it out for myself. But without his guidance on some parts of the challs I was stuck on I would have never got to the end.

And above all I have learnt something from doing it. Unfortunately people like Rayden5 are so far ahead of me that I can't reciprocate and help them out on one where they are stuck. Not trade answers you understand, but guide.

And whilst I only have a few challenges done (60 at last count) if someone asks me for help, I will try and point them in the right direction too. I won't give out the answer straight away but if someone is stuck on a bit of one that I have done and I understand (some of the cracktis I have solved without understanding the code, just picked the correct answer off the stack), I'll help them help themselves.

I don't agree with the 'whats the answer to crackit5?' but I came here to learn some more about something that interests me. And I've met some really nice people online.

Perhaps an arguement could be made for giving the correct answer to someone when they have the right file to brute force (offline of course) for a password, and the right brute forcer, and they have a slow machine or something and its going to take them several weeks to do but that's another topic.

If someone can show they are trying, pointing out to them something that they might not be aware of as another avenue to explore is fine I believe.

Perhaps we could get tbs points for every challenge and we could buy hints off the others!!!

Finally, a public thanks to all of those who have helped me learn a lot more than I knew when I got here!
