well.. if you would like democracy, I would be up for that. tbs, or eric, could you set up a simple voting script asking a few questions as to what degree we should act? They couldbe like How should we solve the cheating problem: 1) Nothing should be done 2) We should cross link IPs to check for multiple accounts 3) We should monitor PM's for soultion trading 4) We should do statistics on how quickly people solve challenges Each of these questions could be a yes or no, and only numbers of votes (and not usernames) should be linked. Just an idea. What do you guys think? |

I think this is a great idea! I mean the voting script But i really don't see the point of number 4! What solving speed has got to do with cheating? Greetz |

>You honestly think pm's are private? They are stored on an SQL server. TBS and erik both have the passwords to it, and may read them at their whim. Thanks for the lesson..... > Just like many things that people think are private on the internet. Everytime someone view my website, I get their IP address, who they came from, and what they are looking at. And? I don't remember where I read that some ppl wanted the IP adress to be classified at Personal Info, if it's going to happen take care on what you store. > You really need to put on your tin foil hat more often if you think things are private on the internet. Never said that > Heck, this website is supposed to educate people as to how insecure things are. At least to the link "littler" |

(I think it's the good one as rayden5 said) |

Then people are not anonymous with their vote. People wont' have to worry about what side they vote for becuase someone will think of them differently. |

(I think it's the good one as rayden5 said) ..think this should be step 1. It can be done in less than 5 minutes (removing 2 links and one query to stop manual GET requests of the page) and i think it will be very effective. Ray |

Hi, during the week-end I might have some time to deal with theses problems but I also might not. I will remove that who-solved-it page somehow and also on the userstats page. I think that might reduce trouble. In the end I really think that it is not perfectly possible to stop cheating. It might only be reduced while making it more difficult. If someone get's such trading-pms why not just report it and that's it? First there's a warning and later on we'll see... But finally I have to say that all of you report that the main aim of this site is to learn and to use your own mind - solving the challenges. So I ask you why you even care about cheaters? I mean your aim is not to be high in the ranking list, it is to learn and improve your skills. So why not even remove the ranking at all? I won't remove it as I think it is some kind of motivation to see that there are such intelligent brain-knot-guys outside, very kind and liking to help and talk - i got into contact with many users in the irc or even with pm and I have to say that I kinda proud to be able to say such things about you / users - but just as a thought... Cu, Erik |

Quote: I mean your aim is not to be high in the ranking list, it is to learn and improve your skills. So why not even remove the ranking at all? Most users doesn't mind about that but I like it's funny to see you progress and compare it to the rest of the users. Just hide the solved name list till the user solved the challenge and the same for profiles. |
