Wellllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll..
I have the full crypto smiley. Am i a crypto master? :P
Hehe. Definitely not. ;)

But I mainly agree with theAnswer.
No point splitting. Just move some challenges to /dev/null.
Crypto's supposed to be about analysis of text to work it backwards and find the original plaintext.
Stegano's supposed to be about analysis of an image / text to find what's hidden in it.
As long as all the challenges in the category fit the description, they should stay in there. Unless they're repeated / useless (solve md5(md5(md5(md5(md5(md5(md5(md5("thisisthepassword"))))))))) / badly implemented (*cough*)

The only category that probably needs some modification is the special section. :P

And anyway, your point about making it easier to get a smiley - that's moot.
Such sites are for you to learn, not for you to get smileys easily. The more challenging it is to get your smiley, the more your interest should motivate you to get it.

And finally - HackQuest isn't hard has a nice community too! :P
I quote Whiteboy - "Electrica makes you humble. HackQuest makes you think you're good."

So, summary - I don't support it (note - I have nothing to gain and nothing to lose since I already have that smiley and splitting will result in me getting 2 smileys)

Hello,
Crypto's are my favorite type of challenge. Simply because they are for some reason easier for me to understand. Now alt3rn4tiv3 said something about moving some more challenges to /dev/null, isn't this the same as splitting? And on the Crypto Genius topic... I don't think there really is a Crypto master out there lol. :-)

Bazing: I believe you don't know what /dev/null actually means.

I suggest to split 'certain' challenges, put them into a new category and fuse this category with /dev/null :D
