Well as far as I see it, Inferno was ranked quite high BEFORE he bacame an admin, that should solve that issue, and as stated teh other admins are not that high. One thing I have not seen mentioned here that I think would be a good idea. I know that I have personally submitted a number of challenges (4 or so) an I never know what happens to them, I have not a clue weather or not they are recieved, actually viewed etc. So maybe have an automatic responce sent out when (1) challenge has been receieved. (2) Challenge has been viewed. (3) Challenge has been decided on weather accepted, trahsed etc. Just a thought for after the major work has been done. |

From my point of view, there are 2 reasons why people care about ranking, I suppose. 1. To get a status in IRC. Admins and the top 5 ranks will be given +o status. Yet, Inferno, an admin, is in the top 5 (redundancy). This way, there is one less +o vacancy (and it is harder to get) - thus some whining there, I think. 2. Just for ranking's sake. There is probably stiffer competition for those who are ranked near the admins (esp Inferno, whose skills + possible advantage from the challenge submissions' descriptions pose as a great threat to whoever's ranked before him). Quote: However, if you answer no to either question - it makes no difference. You will get exactly the same from TBS as if the admins are all using the submitted answers to their advantage. There is no"using to their advantage" or not. As Caesum has put it - Quote: you cannot read how a crypto is done or a stegano is done and then forget and rediscover the method! I agree with the two suggestions given by quangntenemy and cryptodoggy: Quote: How about rank 0 for admins? and Quote: Or you could have like a Admin Rank Box at the top of the Ranking page that tells where the Admin WOULD be if he were in the ranking therefore they are still ranked in a sense but not along with other memebers. Just my 2 cents. |

Just a little note, i don't think that when you vote a challenge under 5.0 on average it should be deleted, at least not in some cases. Take for example the first javascript challenge. It is extremely low ranked, but does that mean it should disappear? I think not. |

Yeah ok. But I dont think the new challenges are that easy. But when almost everybody vote 3, than I think its still not good enough right? However your right on the javascript 1, but thats just a kind of intro. But what do you think of a list of challenged, that just didnt make it, by 1 point or something.? Cya, Darkego |

Hi, you posted a lot of ideas in here, and some of them seem quite reasonable to me. But I have to say it's quite a lot of work and should be lined out exactly in advance: I won't change everything all over again. So we should clear if everyone or just some guys shall be able to vote, and about the ranking. Maybe I can implement a voting-system for a poll but again this needs time, and that's what I don't have. Cu, Erik |

I think what we need are: - A standard for challenge submission, as already mentioned. - A good voting system (Creativity (Presentation), Education, Difficulty, Fun sounds ok ), with a good guideline on how each different aspect should be rated. - Challenge evaluators: just need a few to decide if a challenge is worth uploading. - Votes from every user who has solved a challenge: Votes from challenge evaluators are good, but since they lack time and real experience of solving the chall, their votes might be inaccurate. With a good voting guildeline votes from users who have solved the challenge should be more accurate and should be used to decide if the challenge should stay If a challenge gets low rated from many users, it should be removed as well. PS: One more thing, some people might want to vote on only one aspect, so maybe a vote 0 on an aspect should mean that the user hasn't cast a vote on that one and 1 is the lowest vote possible |

I think there should be a hint system too. Some challenges are very hard to solve without a hint |

We already have a hinting system: It is called "The Forum". This topic is getting a littlebit off-track. Request permission to fire pvcuong... ...out of a cannon... ...into the sun! Thank you for flying with BaRa airlines and enjoy your flight. EDIT: had his/her name wrong... |
