actually, it depends on who you talk to. hackers have a predominant stereotype of techno, i find, the whole hard punk/rap thing is scriptkiddies stereotype, but ultimatly, it is just that, a stereotype. different people like different music, so its just a link to the rest of the stereotype, not a negative part in its own right

and a fair proportion of people can relax to heavier music depends on the song. i personally tend to dislike jazz and many forms of classical, but i do like certain powerful pieces, though i have to be in the right mood to enjoy listening to them *nods*

I listen to a lot of rock. In fact I can listen to almost all rock except for the most extreme death metal bands who only growls.
My favorites, however, is Luca Turilli and his three bands (despite only two of them is rock), Queen (especially Bohemian Rhapsody), Bullet for My Valentine (Im not an emo if you think so), Metallica, Skillet, System of a Down (thats some weird song they produce), Trivium, Nightwish (while people says wannabee to similar bands I personally think Nightwish is a Luca Turilli wannabee) and Paganini (Hes not the grandfather or rock but the forefather of rock).
I also likes to listen to OST (Original Sound-Track) and my favorites there must be Portal, StarCraft and Fable.
