spelling never was one of my strong sides ... (and i was up for quite a while)

indeed what problems?

tor will not be blistering fast, although ime the linux client works a bit better.

well, it can't be that much better.
by using tor you're just sacrificing speed for a supposed anonymous identity.

i object to the statement "it can't be that much better"
a LOT of improvement can be made by tweaking parameters, especially when we are talking about peer to peer applications.

why do you think there are so many torrent clients, which average download speeds differ significantly for the same torrent?

theoretically it can be nearly as fast as a direct connection, once the circuit is set up, only fast symmetric encryption is used,
if you are lucky and the routers are somewhat on the way to your target .. :)

btw tor is also particularly handy for IRC, usually delay there is only several seconds, which doesn't matter much for irc comm
unications, but it shields your IP from all the other users which is good when you are connected 24/7 (although i would still prefer
a trusted bnc).

i don't have much experience with tor, much less on a linux platform. and i don't have much experience with bittorrent either, so bear with my ignorance :)

however, you seem to be making quite a number of assumptions, including that the connection load being optimally idealistic at all times.

thanks rhican, you inadvertantly answered my question. guess it's back to the drawing-board using my trusty vmware and linux. lol
