Hi guys I'm back again My boss fired me because he caught me cracking something. I tried to explain that crackits are created to be cracked but he wouldn't listen! Anyway, I think it's good for me. I don't need such a stupid boss. I suppose I'll take a week off before finding another job. Now I would like to share my analysis about Bara's challs with you Those are ideas I got after reading "Thinking in Bara" 36: You are granted a license! [made by BaRa] A cracy chall with many decoys. JPG format is lossy so there should be nothing to do with RGB. It's either the visual content or the hex data. In the visual content, the key, file name and data seem to be decoys. I tried all kinds of conversion but no success. Since RGB is not a good way then the weird pixels around the text are nothing too. The signature is quite suspicious, haven't seen it in any other challs. General Manager Clonc Interactive, BaRa is quite a suspicious name. It's meaningless and Clonc isn't an English word. Maybe this is important? I've found nothing in the hex data also. 39: The Orient Express [made by BaRa] As the forum says, this is based on a puzzle game. No chance of solving it without knowing the game then. 41: Around The World 2 [made by BaRa] There are 2 hints hidden in there. I have found one and it's quite worthless. Maybe finding the other one will help to know how to combine the rectangles together? 43: The Long Forgotten Game [made by BaRa] Quite a hard one with no explicit clue. This seems to be a visual puzzle. Some notable things: - Someone found an important clue: the bottom of each row match the top of the following one - The circumference of an l-sided square equals 4l+4. This must be the way of grouping those things into rectangles. - "The top's on top, the bottom isn't on the bottom." Maybe another description of how to put the things together? 51: Confession To Life [made by BaRa] If you look at the RGB value, you'll see something important. The next step is to find out how the thing is related to the text and extract the solution out from there. 52: Down the tubes [made by BaRa] This is the hardest one I must say. Totally clueless. The challenge seems to be a puzzle. There's no hint on the forum and I've no idea what the puzzle is about. 53: Superpacked [made by BaRa] Judging from the votes it should be easy. The files are so huge that I think the contents are not much important. What's more important is the number of letters/repetitions. Some simple binary/hex conversion might be needed. 54: The Friendly Hobo [made by BaRa] The fact that there are noise added to the picture makes me think that the information is hidden in the RGB. If we know what kind of noise then we might find something. 56: Footprints 2 [made by BaRa] I found a hint to a file header but I've no idea what it has to do with the challenge. 58: The Lost Issue [made by BaRa] There are some differences in the eyes. No idea how to convert them to get the solution though. 66: Not around... [made by BaRa] Should be similar to 1 and 2. Combine the rectangles. 67: Around The World 3 [made by BaRa] Join the teamwork forum |

So basically: 36, 39, 41, 43, 51, 52, 53, 54, 56, 58, 66, 67: Anything that can be seen there may or may not lead to the solution. And yes, it must be the "legal cracking" part, not that you spent company time on challenges. Stupid boss. Stupid stupid boss. Regards, Hive |

And another thing. Why do you "share" all this information? No one asked for you to do it? I think this is REALLY disrespectfull towards the author, especially since you ONLY focus on BaRa's challenges. BaRa created those to help people think differently when it comes to solving problems, and you just throw that purpose away by starting such a thread. And I also think people should figure out that stuff on their own (disregarding the fact that your analysis is valid or not). You can't just give everyone everything on a silver plate. This way YOU take the challenge and the learning-curve away from the people who DO want to spend time on challs, instead of hoping to invoke a massive Teamwork thread again and taking the easy way out. I suggest you start behaving a bit more differently on this forum. Inferno *Fixed some typo's |

Totally agree Inferno, but even more so if what he says has any basis to solving a challenge, but almost all of it looks like rubbish to me. |

Hey, those are just my analysis. They don't spoil anything! If you don't want spoilers just don't read! The reason why I posted such a topic is because I like steganos and among those I haven't solved most are Bara's. Last year when I was struggling on these challs I asked for a tut but no one was nice enough to write one. Now that I have solved many steganos I have become better and I'm starting to really think to solve a stegano. But a brain alone cannot do many things. And teamwork is an important skill. Don't you feel happy when you solve a chall? Don't you think it's happier when you share the happiness with others? |
