One feature that I'd like to see on TBS is user comparisons (like shopping comparisons). I'm sure I'm not the only person who has looked at a person's profile and wondered how many of the challenges we've completed in similar. I find this most common when looking at the profile of somebody who has done a similar number of challenges, since it gives a general insight in to their abilities, which can be compared with the challenges you should be able to do.

Think about it.

I thought of the same thing, but if somebody is lame enough to want to trade solutions, they could either manually go through others' profiles, or write a simple program to do it for them. As long as member stats and the ranking system are open for others to view, it is ridiculously simple to make your own system to compare user profiles.

That said, I know somebody is going to come out with "so why don't you shut up and script it yourself". I'd rather not though, at least not as a final solution. The main reason is because I'd like the feature to be on the site, so I don't have to launch something separately every time I'd like to use the feature. I also think it would look a lot better if it was part of the site.

well I know i'm in a habbit of disagreeing with bara, on everything.

This time however, I'll agree but for different reasons. because I don't believe it will facilitate traiding too much.

But because I don't see another use for it.

Well it could be nice, to compare which challenges the persons ranked right above you have solved. Because usually
if the 5 persons above you solved a certain challenge, this usually indicates that it's within your reach.

but in general, comparing anything other than challenge count, is pretty useless to me.

Another Idea is not stealing the comparison for eshops. But the recommendation feature.

"Saying hey User, i found these other users. they are seem to like the same stuff you like mostly, but he also likes this, what do you think?"

possibly replacing "like" with "solved"

since there are 340 challenges or so, i don't think this is useless. because, when you solved about 40 challenges, knowing which other one to start can be trial and error...
you can't know 300 challenges by hearth in order to pick one to spend time on.

That is one of the key reasons I'd like to see this feature. As you said, it can be hard to decide on a challenge to try, and I know that it's a big help if you can see what other people at your level have managed to do. I know that I've gone through a lot of the challenges, and some of the ones that fewer people have completed are far easier to complete than others, depending on ones knowledge and skills, things that are likely to be linked with some of the other people with similar completion counts. It won't become the most used feature, but I'm sure it would get used enough to be worth having.

I am not sure if i get your idea right, neither i have read the full thread, but
i compare my profile with others by opening their stat page and look if i voted the challs they have solved.
The "voted this chall" graphics belong to your account and the "solved this chall" marks belong to the others profile.
To do it this way means you have to vote every chall you solved.
