did you know that viacom (who is suing youtube), has put up _all_ the episodes of the daily show. for who you don't know it's a comedy show, with john stewart. In which they ridicule the news, and random stuff. It is politically tainted, so ye be warned. You have to relativate everything to make it fit in your mindset. But generally it's just damn funny. But if you think G W Bush is the shining example of competence you might want to skip it. Otherwise it's great fun to watch. with guests ranging from angelina joli (the chick from "Hackers"), bill gates (chances are you know this bloke) , to Al Gore The guy who for some odd reason got a nobelprize for peace. There is relative annoying in content advertisement, but seeing as viacom vigurously monitors youtube (to the extend that they violate normal users rights, by taking down legitmate videos) this probably is the easiest way to get this content. http://www.thedailyshow.com/video/index.jhtml this are the gates videos http://www.thedailyshow.com/video/index.jhtml?videoId=81467&title=bill-gates-pt.-1 http://www.thedailyshow.com/video/index.jhtml?videoId=81466&title=bill-gates-pt.-2 |

For Germans: I think something similar exists in the German news show 'Heute' on ZDF. The "peep"s before the introduction music translate the word "heute" in morse. |

Did you know that 80 percent of all british closed-circuit television cameras don't give useful pictures? Did you know that Great Britain has the highes density of closed-circuit television cameras? Did you know that googles market value is over 200,000,000,000 $? Did you know that scientist in Germany have invented a camera which can get its energy only by fibre glas? Did you know that a british school test RFID-chips in cloths of pupils to get their position in the school? |

Did you know Harrison Ford picked up his leather hat and bullwhip again recently for the fourth Indiana Jones film, which will be called Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull? Did you know that quite a few scripts for a possible fourth Indy-flick had already been written, but were all rejected? The original script on which Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis was based, which they started working on in 1992, was intended to be used for a movie too. Cate Blanchett will star as the "Indy-girl". Did you know Harisson Ford is old enough to be Cate's daddy? But who cares, right? Cate's just hot, and somehow I don't think casting an Indy-girl Ford's age (65 at the moment) would be a good idea. The music for this movie will be written by John Williams again, as usual, which I'm quite looking forward to. Speaking of music, did you know you can stimulate your brainwaves by listening to binaural beats? You could even mix these in with your favourite regular music. My suggestion for solving tbs challenges: Add some brainwaves to a few prodigy tracks (or use some mellow rave music) which stimulate beta and gamma frequencies. For optimal effect, you'll need to listen to it using a stereo headphone. Does anybody recognise this sequence: 1, 4, 10, 23, 57, 132, 301, 701? It's often used as the increment sequence for sorting stuff using the shellsort. Another populair rule of thumb is to create gaps by dividing by 2.2. Did you know (correct me if I'm wrong) nobody really seems to know why dividing by 2.2 seems to produce optimal results? Did you know there are a few nice data compression challenges that can win you some nice prizes? Currently PAQ has achieved the best results, so all you have to do is beat paq (which is open source). Have a look at http://prize.hutter1.net/ and http://mailcom.com/challenge/. |

Did you know people who smoke get really cranky when they're all out of cigarettes on a sunday (when the stores are closed, grmbl)? Yesterday, I came across this replica of the Phaistos disc which had been collecting dust for probably more than a decade. Here's a picture of the original: On http://www.world-mysteries.com/sar_9.htm you can find some more info. Did you know that nobody has been able to decipher it yet? Did you know bright-shadows.net still isn't very Opera-friendly? |
