I must say I do not agree with the idea of adding new science challenges....well at least not the kind that we have here right now... As Erik said, we are here to learn about the topics that are presented, but science topic is somehow different...I mean, come on, I did Vibrations after 2 months of hard work, after seeing Math Analysis III in college + Electricity and Magnetism + Physics....people can learn how to solve a crypto, or how to start programming and doing loops and conditions to solve easy challs.....but learning Differential Equations of N order....thats different, you cannot learn that by your own just like that, and then the only way to solve it is to Google for the same excersice and change the values...it becomes another info gathering chall, dont you think so? well thats my humble opinion, I dont know what you guys think, and remember, everybody should be able to solve the challs, not just 2 o 3 "1337" well educated people (not a comunist thought, just to be fair with everyone here). |

Well... I must be one of those bloody "1337" well educated people... Don't you want to be challenged ? Too bad... |

even if we do want to be challenged, the purpose of this site and its description, if I remember correctly, is "a site dedicated to online security". I can see how cryptography, steganography, information gathering and all the other obvious ones are related to this, but science and logic challenges are only some kind of an entertainment... -Baubbi- |

At the home page there is a top ten of "newest" challenges. They are already kinda old =). Maybe it's a good idea to change it to the 10 last solved challenges or something. |

I never saw it that way, Baubbi, but you may be right. Yet, you don't learn much (at all... so much for online security...) with cryptos like Zodiac or steganos like the button-pushing-goat one - though they may be recreational, to some extent... |

come on guys. this is a challenge community. note the "challenge" and "community" bits. you come here for the fun and the thrill of solving the challenges. if you want to see new challenges up on the latest ten list, then take the time and do some research to make a challenge of your own. i guess you could see the whole thing as a big competition where you need to be the best, but where's the fun in that? log on, stay, chat, learn and just make it an enjoyable experience for every one. sure logic and science aren't really internet/network/computer security, but they are still fun to solve, right? |

Quote from flipp: Well... I must be one of those bloody "1337" well educated people... Don't you want to be challenged ? Too bad... Let me point you that you are still missing 1 science chall j/k the point is if you have no knowledge at all, and someone uploads a NASA physics problem, you wont be able to solve it, even if you try to start from scratchs...thats not beign challenged, thats just a chall to ignore furthermore, most of science challs, again I can talk about Vibrations, they were extracted from books, so I have a lot of books with enough "challs" to create a new bright-shadows-science website, anyone can submit challs like that, easy to upload, hard to solve, the creator doenst do anything but to call Erik and ask for submitting a new chall maybe we could all together think about a new Topic (a new smiley to treasure), and start creating our own challs hess |
