this annoying message pops up when i try to delete one .exe file from my desktop. i have tried to search in Windows Task Manager (ALT+CTRL+DEL) which program could be associated with that executable but was unsuccessful. its not the first time like this and probably not the last and i always fix them sooner or later but maybe you know how to find out (or maybe there is any software) whether the file is associated with some running program? its just because i dont like keeping those annoying problems on my computer |

there are two more ticks out there for the lame windows os afaik: ctrl-alt-del: close explorer.Exe start cmd.exe delete the file from the dosbox open VB if it's on your system type KILL "filname" press run <-- why this often does work is a mistery to me too. |

the easiest and fastest way for me was to download program HijackThis. it was the only that deleted file with no problems |

im having a similar problem with something on my computer. It says that the directory is not empty but it is clearly empty (0 bytes) and no folders in it. I have tried to delete it via command and it says: RMDIR Directory The directory is not empty. RD Directory The directory is not empty. It is not in use with any program and no interaction with processes or anything so why wont it delete? |

Are you sure that your system is set to show all hidden and system files? Maybe there's a running file hidden inside you alleged empty directory. If you are sure this isn't the problem, try deleting the folder in safe-mode. Greetz BaRa ps: sniperkid, maybe a fresh install could help because it seems you got alot of these exotic problems ;p. |

if there was any file (even hidden), windows would still show the size of the folder. well, sniperkid, you can do like i did: open HijackThis (you will find from where to download hopefully go to: Config...->Misc->Delete a file on reboot. if i remember right, then you will choose the file (or folder) to delete, restart computer and you will not see it anymore |
