im a little confused...i always assumed that windows xp had a fiel that saved the passwords of administrators and users alike but someone i was speaking to said it didnt? i have tried a searcg for it but have no results thus far...my question to you all is does it have a file and whats it named or where is it located? |

Well you could always just use Cain v2.5 to try and find the saved passwords of users and admin. I hope that helps a little. Thanks. |

The file that saves users passowrds is the SAM file and it sucks , cause it doesnt let you copy it or touch it : |

just enter this in you command line: cd backslash cd system~1 backslash _resto~1 cd rp..(the highest number) cd snapshot in this directory you can find the SAM. you can even copy it have fun edit: the backslash doesn't work |

I didnt know this method , but im trying to crack my own sam , getting it the way you said and the password is not working. Backslash as in / |

If you want to crack your own SAM File, the easiest way will be to run your PC with another operating system, like linux. Then you are allowed to change your SAM File the way you want. If you do not have a linux you can find many bootdisks in the internet, which will be enough for this crack |

Well, once again, have u tried using Cain v.2.5? I'm pretty usre they have a nice cracker for you. Well I accidentally deleted my copy, and I'm too lazy to check for you, so I can't really tell u for sure, but I really remember seeing something on there. Well good luck. |
